LABC Project Winners 2016

LABC Project Winners 2016

The 4wall building system is as cost effective to build as it is to run. The following project won LABC’s  most innovative building of 2016, awarded by Plymouth Council. It was our intention to prove a house could be built with minimal renewables and still be to a passive house standard without the additional energy systems required to achieve the standard, therefore saving the customer money and providing extremely low running costs with low maintanence.

The only renewables to achieve these outstanding results was a solar panel to the roof heating a hot water cylinder and mechanical ventilation. There was not any need for heating to be installed in the house as the 4wall building system with its fantastic inherent airtightness and superb thermal values combats any heating or air conditioning required to maintain a comfortable living environment.

The temperature was monitored inside and out throughout the winter months, the coldest day measured was minus -4 with the temperature in the house without any heat at 17 degrees. This proved that all our homes whether big or small can be built to a similar cost and run at a fraction of the cost of a standard brick/block built home.

Please see for yourself the documentation in the download zone for the EPC A rated certificate that has only ever been achieved by 0.095% of houses built in the UK including the impressive SAP calculations and running costs for the more technically minded and of course ‘Our LABC innovative building system winners award 2016’!
