Planning Permission

Planning Permission & Permitted Development

For a period of six years, between 30 May 2013 and 30 May 2019, householders will be able to build larger single-storey rear extensions under permitted development.

A homeowner wishing to build a larger single-storey rear extension will be able to:

  • extend a detached house between 4mtrs depth and 8 metres width.
  • extend a semi detached house between 3mtr depth and 6 metres width.

Planning Permission

The permitted development process takes up to 4 weeks maximum before a decision is confirmed.

If your home extension does not fall within the sizes above stated then full planning permission will have to be applied for. The process from submission to full planning approval can take between 6-8 weeks.

Intashell will notify the relevant local planning authority by completing and submitting the notification of a proposed larger Home Extension form and provide the necessary required information as part of the following process within the attached summary docs and application.

Please Note:

It is not possible to undertake this process retrospectively on projects already carried out before making an application. Its important the application is submitted and the ‘go-ahead’ given before any work commences.
